When you dream about something long enough, it will become a reality. Since the age of 6 years old, being the main flagman for a race track was my dream…although I thought that dream would never come true. For the next 10 years of my life, my world revolved around watching racing on TV, and attending short track events on Saturday nights. My desire to flag kept growing stronger, I kept asking every track official I could find if they needed any help. When I was 17 years old, my dad and I visited former NASCAR Cup Series driver Ken Ragan, Legends of Georgia director at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Once I told him my dream, thanks to him and the staff of Atlanta Motor Speedway, my dream became a huge reality, I started off flagging open practice from turn two, to eventually getting to climb the huge 17 step ladder to flag actual races! Fast forward many years, I have and still continue to be
blessed to tour this great nation of ours,
flagging events from Georgia, to Maine, to
Washington State! One of the greatest things
is speaking to the first responders that are at
every race track. No matter what part of the
country that we are in, the accents may be
different, but our desire and passions are
the same, helping others and being a part
of this great auto racing sport! Always live
up to your dreams!
